Background and Objective:Biological rhythms, including emotional, intellectual, and physical cycles, influence decision-making processes. Understanding these cycles can lead to improvements in individuals’ decision-making quality. Accordingly, the present study aimed to determine the relationship between biorhythm cycles and the quality of decision-making among pilots.
Methodology:This study was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive–survey in terms of research design and data collection method. The statistical population consisted of pilots from one of the military organizations. The sample size was determined as 120 pilots using G*Power software. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to assess biorhythm cycle components and decision-making quality. The content validity of the questionnaire was examined, and its reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. The normality of the collected data was evaluated using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, and data analysis was conducted using Pearson’s correlation coefficient.
Findings:The results indicated a statistically significant relationship between the physical, intellectual, and emotional dimensions of biorhythm and the quality of pilots’ decision-making. Moreover, the relationship between biorhythm status and decision-making quality was positive and statistically significant (p < 0.05).
Conclusion:Enhancing the neurocognitive performance of pilots—particularly in light of their critical role in making rapid and accurate decisions under specific flight conditions—is an issue that deserves special attention in flight training programs implemented by responsible authorities.
