Empirical evidence from studies conducted in different countries of the world suggests that income inequality is affected by military expenditures. The severity of this impact can vary with different levels of corruption. In this regard the present study examines the relationship between military expenditure and income inequality using panel data from the OIC member countries during the period of 2003-2014. For this purpose, panel co-integration analyzes and General Method of Moment (GMM) have been used. The results of the model estimation showed that military expenditure and corruption have a positive and significant effect on the income inequality in the OIC member countries. Also, the results indicate that the interaction between military costs and corruption is positive and significant, reflecting the fact that the effect of military expenditures on income inequality is nonlinear and dependent on the level of corruption. So that with increasing (decreasing) levels of corruption in the studied countries, the positive effect of military spending on income inequality increases (decreases).
