Chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are toxic chemicals and are organized and classified according to their effects on the human body. The widespread use of these compounds in mass killings and terrorist operations is clearly evident. The presence of these compounds in water, as well as in the environment, has been a source of concern. Therefore, this paper introduces methods for analyzing and detecting these compounds. Thin-layer chromatography (TLC), as a simple, cost-effective and easy method, is one of the first methods to identify these compounds. In addition, in this paper, new methods for detecting and measuring CWAs such as ionic mobility spectrometers (IMS), colorimetric, fluorescence, Aptasensors, Raman spectroscopy, surface elevation (SERS) and audio sensors have also been introduced. It should be noted that all these methods provide a very good detection limit for the determination of these compounds in different environments. These methods are also used to detect Dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP) as a quasi-nerve agent.
