In a new specification, Aizenman & Glick (2003, 2006) assume that the effect of defense spending on economic growth is a nonlinear function of the effective military threats of foreign countries, and if there are large external threats, increasing defense spending can help boost economic growth. In this regard, the main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of defense expenditures on Iran's economic growth according to the level of external threats during the period of 1979-2015. For this purpose, based on the Aizenman & Glick (2003, 2006) studies, a model for Iranian economy has been designed and to estimate it, is used the Johansen-Juselius co-integration method. Also, the average defense burden of the Middle East countries has been used as an indicator of external threats. The findings of this research show that the impact of defense burden on Iran's economic growth depends on the level of the external threat index. As the level of external threats increases, the negative impact of defense spending on economic growth decreases, and it can be expected that with the passage of external threats from its threshold, the impact of defense spending on the economic growth will be positive. یکی از مهم‌ترین مباحث مطرح‌شده در اقتصاد دفاع بررسی تأثیر مخارج دفاعی بر رشد اقتصادی می‌باشد و تاکنون در این زمینه مطالعات متعددی با استفاده از مدل‌های گوناگون انجام شده است. در یک تصریح جدید، آیزنمن و گلیک (Aizenman & Glick, 2003, 2006) فرض می‌کنند که تأثیر مخارج دفاعی بر رشد اقتصادی، یک تابع غیرخطی از تهدیدات نظامی مؤثر کشورهای خارجی است و در صورت وجود تهدیدات خارجی گسترده، افزایش مخارج دفاعی می‌تواند به رشد اقتصادی کمک کند. در این راستا، هدف اصلی این مطالعه بررسی تأثیر مخارج دفاعی بر رشد اقتصادی ایران با توجه به سطح تهدیدات خارجی طی سال‌های 1394-1358 می‌باشد. به این منظور، بر اساس مطالعات آیزنمن و گلیک، یک مدل برای اقتصاد ایران طراحی و برای برآورد آن از روش هم‌انباشتگی یوهانسن-یوسلیوس استفاده شده است. هم‌چنین، از متوسط بار دفاعی کشورهای خاورمیانه به‌عنوان شاخص تهدیدات خارجی استفاده شده است. یافته‌های این تحقیق نشان می‌دهد که تأثیر بار دفاعی بر رشد اقتصادی ایران به سطح شاخص تهدیدات خارجی وابسته است؛ به‌گونه‌‌ای که با افزایش سطح تهدیدات خارجی، اثر منفی مخارج دفاعی بر رشد اقتصادی کاهش می‌یابد و می‌توان انتظار داشت که با گذشت سطح تهدیدات خارجی از مقدار آستانه آن، تأثیر مخارج دفاعی بر رشد اقتصادی کشور مثبت نیز گردد. https://www.qjmst.ir/article_36893_d82dcce748db2b286c31075d899273b0.pdf
