The military organizations and units of any country, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran have an important place among other organizations because of their special mission in defense of the country. In such organizations one of the most important behavioral injuries is the escape of soldiers. Based on this, and considering the role and influence of internal and external factors affecting the escape of soldiers' service, this paper tries to address the concept of escape from military service and its internal and external factors affecting it. This research is applied in a descriptive-correlative way. The statistical population of this study is the total number of 103 fugitive soldiers from Mehrabad Air base from 2015 to 2016. To determine the statistical sample, the census method was used due to the limited statistical population. Data were collected through a researcher-made written questionnaire. The reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was calculated using Cronbach's alpha (0.86) and the validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts. The results of the study using Pearson correlation test and bivariate regression show that there is a significant relationship between internal factors (management and regulatory factors) and external factors (personal, family and environmental factors) with the soldiers’ escape from military service. Also, the results of regression analysis indicated that the external and internal factors had a significant effect on the soldiers’ escape from military service. Among external factors having physical and mental illness, family dislocation and bad weather conditions, and among inter-organizational factors, discrimination in determining the place of service, the persecution of senior soldiers and the long duration of service have the greatest impact on the soldiers’ escape from military service.
