Abstract
Over the last decade or so, there has been tremendous improvement in the way militaries gather, process, and use information. This was needed to provide commanders with better information for decision making in order to exercise faster and more effective command and control in military operations. This is a key part of the transformation of the military forces into the 21st  century. The Command, Control, Communications, Computers (C4), together with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) initiative is a strategy to help make this information-technology transformation happen. Today there is a worldwide trend towards an extended use of information and communication technology in defence systems in order to improve operational capabilities and cost efficiency. In most cases, the main approach is to achieve seamless networking among interconnected decision makers, effectors, and information sources.
