Intelligent Interference in GPS System Operation

Document Type : Research/Original/Regular Article

Abstract
Nowadays, lots of military and civilian systems utilize GPS for localization purposes. However, like every system else, GPS systems are not immune of malfunctioning due to sabotages or distracting acts like spoofing. In spoofing, fake signals alike the original ones, but containing manipulated information are transmitted in order to deceive the intended GPS receiver. In this way, the receiver will be spoofed. In this paper, spoofing methods are dealt and a novel method is proposed. Its implementation is presented, and discussed. Finally the performance of the proposed method will be evaluated via simulation. Another salient characteristic of the proposed method lies in its cost of implementation, which is much lower than that of the conventional ones.
